1.Check your cable receiver to see whether it has an HDMI output---usually found on the back of the receiver. If not, contact your local cable company to request an HDMI-capable receiver.

2.Check your high-definition television for at least one HDMI input---usually onon either the side or on the back of the television. If your television does not have an HDMI input, it does not matter whether you have an HDMI cable or HDMI-capable receiver.

3.Plug your HDMI cable into your receiver's HDMI output. Look for the "HDMI" label above or below the output to determine the correct one.

4.Plug your HDMI cable into your television's HDMI input. Look for the "HDMI" label above or below the input to determine the correct one.

5.Turn on the receiver and the television to ensure that the cable is working. A high-definition television image is crisp and clear. If the image you see is not, check that the cable's setup is correct. If the problem persists, determine whether the issue lies with your cable, receiver or television.
